Cold Cut

Wiederverwendet: Ein altes Tastentelefon, abgestaubt. In Illustrator 1:1 nachkonstruiert und anschliessend dekonstruiert. Aus den zufälligen Formen, die durch die Dekonstruktion entstanden sind, suchte ich nach einem Ansatz für meine Schrift. In Kombination mit dem zugelosten Lied «Cold Cut» von Timber — ein rein instrumentales und experimentelles Stück — sowie den zuvor gefundenen Formen entwickelte ich meine Schrift mit ihren kantigen und schweren Serifen. Aufgrund der Serifen eignet sich die Schrift für großflächige Anwendungen wie beispielsweise das Plattencover.

Cold Cut

Reused: An old push-button telephone, dusted off. Reconstructed 1:1 in Illustrator and then deconstructed. From the random shapes created through the deconstruction, I searched for an approach for my font. Combined with the assigned song “Cold Cut” by timber – a purely instrumental and experimental song – and the previously discovered forms, I developed my font with its angular and heavy serifs. The serifs make the font suitable for large-scale applications, such as album covers.
